Things have recently gotten a bit crazy here, me busy, Amie leaving us (good luck hon!), gdt to organize, a new full time DT member (stay tuned) and so now a new admin too! I have big hopes and ideas for this blog and real life just isn't giving me the time to bring them all to life! So, I am VERY excited to welcome Eryn to the team, she is a wonderful woman who I have known in computer land for quite some time now and who I know will be a wonderful addition to this blog. Eryn thank you so much for stepping in to help me out! So, I just wanted to let you all know, that while things have been a bit slow around here lately and not as inspiring as I'd like it to be, we have a whole new lineup of challenges for Aug that the dt have been working on like mad and with some fresh faces and fresh ideas the next month and on are looking up!
Thanks for sticking with us as we settle in to our new order and stay tuned for some truly amazing inspiration in the coming months!
Meantime, I thought I'd post a few of my favorite LOs from the dt over the last five months. Just looking at the amazing work these ladies do is enough to inspire!

Pool in the Summer!
No not the swimming kind - check out this fun challenge I found at How Much Is Too Much? Stop by there and see what their DT has come up with for this one!
I love something that gives me focus for my layout and also helps me use up my stash. During the summer it can feel like you are 'behind the 8 ball' in the scrapbooking department, and that was my inspiration for this week's challenge. Create a layout using...
8 - brads
8 - flowers
8 - buttons
8 - letter stickers

Hybrid Challenge
I just love the fun mixes of stuff that can be done by incorporating digi into paper or paper into digi. For this LO that's exactly what I want you to do! Print a digital element, cut it out and use it on your page! Also just for fun let's see Green, Orange, and Blue on your LOs!
If you need some digital stuff to play with check out these sites http://digifree.blogspot.com/ or here http://ikeagoddess.blogspot.com/

Photos
This one is all about the photos. I want you to dig out a large series of photos that you've been meaning to get to for a while - at least 3 - and scrap them! Here's the trick, I want you to cluster your photos, cropping as needed, and use minimal embellies to keep the focus on all those pics!!

Welcome Sharon!
Sharon will be sharing some of her awesome work with us as a guest designer over the next couple of months. Here's a little about her and the first challenge she did for us!
Name: Sharon Nosal
Location: Greensboro, NC
Family: I have been married to my hubby Rich for 8 yrs. We have 2 girls, Abigail 7, Allison 4 a dog named Maggie and we just added a bird named Lola to our family!
How I got started scrapping: A group of ladies from the church I went to before we moved invited me to a crop at a local store. I went with a few pictures and ended up buying a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff that day. I've been hooked since!
Why I love scrapping: It is just another creative outlet for me! I love to do anything art and craft related. The best part is that while I'm getting my craft fix I am also preserving my families memories!
Where I get my inspiration: All over the place.
Three non-scrappy things about me:
I have a MBA in Visual Communications (Graphic Desigh and Photography) as well as my K-12 teaching certification in Art.
My DH and I have known each other since we were in 5th grade (21 years) and have dated/been married to him for 12 of them.
I am a reality tv addict.
And now here's the challenge!
Scrap an icon from the place you live...in Texas it could be the Texas flag, bluebonnets, mockingbirds, Texas stars, longhorns, etc.

The Price of...
This one's for the records...scrap a lo about how much things cost today. Like gallons of milk, gas, movie tickets, candy, soda, CD's. I am certain we have all heard how much a soda cost back when our parents were kids and were amazed.

Happy Challenge and a Guest!
We've invited a few guest designers to join us over the summer. It's always nice to stir up the mix a bit now and then!!
Today we're going to feature a LO by Ashley Smith. Here's a little about Ashley...
Location: Florida
Family: I have been married to Chris for 14 years and we have two children. (Four year old twins, Andrew and Megan)
How I got started scrapping: After my children were born I wanted to start documenting all the little things that babies do and I've been hooked ever since.
Why I love scrapping: It gives me the chance to document all the things I want to remember and I have discovered I am more creative than I thought I was. That was the most surprising thing.
Where I get my inspiration: My family
Three non-scrappy things about me:
1. I used to be an elementary teacher.
2. I love being a stay at home Mom.
3. When I am not scrapbooking, I enjoy reading and watching movies.
The challenge I gave Ashley was to use the word HAPPY on a LO. She came up with this gorgeous page that I am thrilled to be sharing with you. Thank you Ashley!
Keep your eyes open for more pages from this talented lady throughout the summer!
We also have a Happy LO from Erica today! I love how they're both so different - that's the joy of a challenge!

Here's one for you from How Much Is Too Much? Stop by there and see the awesome LOs their dt has made!
For our next challenge we are seeing red!
Use lots of red on a layout. Choose a photo with red in it. Make red be your main accent color. Whatever you do, I want to see red!

Progressive Challenge day 3
3. Now place the 9x9 on a final piece of 12x12 cardstock. Apply some sort of border (stitches, doodling, cut one from one of your pp...). Crop and add your final photo. Use a bit of the same pp as you did on the first 6x6 piece somewhere. Add a title. Journal if you'd like. And you're done!!

Progressive Challenge
For the next few days we're going to do something a little different. I will post a list of instructions to start a LO, will continue with a second list tomorrow and the final list on Monday. I will post some dt examples with each so you can see how their LOs came along too!
So for the first bit...
1. Pick 3 photos (1 full 4x6 and 2 smaller or cropable ones), 2 coordinating cardstock and 2 coordinating pp.
Cut one cardstock down to 6x6 and arrange the large photo on it (crop if needed). Add two types of embellies/techniques (ink, buttons, distressing, ribbon etc...) and some of one of the pp to make a mini LO.
And here's a few from the dt

Sometimes it's so hard to get that perfect pic of wiggly kids or laughing adults do a lo using the "out takes" from a bunch of photos

Old and New
I'd love to see someone do this one... Scrap a pic of someone (yourself or another) years ago and currently and journal about the changes that have taken place. It's so neat to see changes like that!
